CDA cleans G-10 reservoirs as Islamabad focuses on water security

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has carried out routine cleaning and disinfection of water reservoirs at G-10 Water Works to maintain hygienic conditions and safeguard the quality of drinking water supplied to residents.

“CDA is committed to ensuring a reliable supply of clean drinking water to the citizens of Islamabad,” the authority’s spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the cleaning of reservoirs was part of the authority’s regular maintenance and disinfection measures.

He said the CDA was also taking steps to improve the existing water supply infrastructure, strengthen the distribution network and reduce water losses to meet the growing needs of the capital’s population.

The authority was working to enhance water storage capacity and explore additional sustainable sources, while promoting the efficient use and conservation of available resources, he added.

The spokesperson said rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge were also among the measures being encouraged as part of the CDA’s long-term water management strategy.

Residents, educational institutions, housing societies and commercial establishments had been urged to conserve water, repair leaking taps and pipelines, and report leakages to the relevant authorities for timely action.

The CDA also advised citizens against disposing of solid waste, chemicals, oil and sewage into drains, nullahs and watercourses to protect water resources from pollution.

The spokesperson said the authority would continue maintenance of its water supply facilities and promote responsible water use to support a sustainable supply for the capital.
