Family of Hina Javed rejects re-investigation offer, demands judicial commission

RAWALPINDI: The family of Hina Javed has expressed distrust in the police investigation for the third time, ARY News reported.

The heirs of Hina Javed also rejected the police’s offer of another investigation into the murder case.

The deceased woman’s brother, Fahad Javed, has written a letter to the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Interior, reiterating the family’s demand for the formation of a judicial commission to probe the murder.

The Ministry of Interior had suggested transferring the investigation to another district.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Saif Ullah contacted the family, advising them to submit a formal application for a re-investigation.

However, the family remains steadfast in their demand for the constitution of a judicial commission.

According to the law, an investigation can only be transferred once or twice and cannot be changed indefinitely.

Legal teams face significant difficulties when investigation teams are changed repeatedly due to continuous distrust.

A high-level legal team is currently reviewing the family’s new demands on a daily basis.

Earlier, Police have arrested Faisal Asghar, husband of 45-year-old Hina Javed, in her alleged murder in Rawalpindi.

The incident took place at Askari Apartments in the Lalkurti area, within the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines Police Station.

According to the FIR registered on the complaint of Hina’s brother, her body was found in the bathroom of the residence. Police have also arrested the domestic worker, identified as Zeeshan.

Her hands were allegedly tied behind her back, a cloth was stuffed into her mouth and a wire was tied around her neck.

Hina had married Faisal Asghar, son of retired Colonel (r) Asghar Ali Fayyaz, in November 2025.

Hina’s brother told police that he received a call from Asghar Fayyaz informing him that there was an emergency and asking him to come to the residence immediately. The brother said he then went to the house along with his father-in-law, Major (retd.) Chan Zeb. According to his statement, when they reached the residence, they found Hina dead in the bathroom.

The FIR alleges that Hina was subjected to severe torture before her death and names her husband, father-in-law and domestic worker in connection with the alleged killing.

Her family has also expressed suspicion that she may have been given a poisonous substance before her death. Hina’s brother alleged that the suspects attempted to portray the incident as a suicide.

The FIR further alleges that Faisal had previously subjected Hina to torture and mistreatment. It states that this was his second marriage and that his first wife had obtained a divorce allegedly because of domestic violence and mistreatment.

Police said evidence has been collected from the crime scene and that an investigation into all aspects of the case is underway.

Family Demands Father-in-Law’s Arrest

Hina Javed’s family has expressed concern over the alleged role of her father-in-law, who, according to the family, has not yet been arrested.

The family has demanded his immediate arrest and a thorough investigation into his alleged involvement in the case.

In a statement, the family called on the Punjab Police and relevant authorities to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation, free from any influence, pressure or delay.

The family said that anyone found to have enabled, concealed or participated in the alleged crime must be held accountable under the law and brought to justice.
