Four killed in Larkana firing over longstanding land dispute

LARKANA: Four people were killed in an armed attack on a car in Larkana over a longstanding land dispute, ARY News reported, citing local police.

The attack took place on a car in Lahori Mohalla area of Larkana.

Police said a woman travelling in the car remained unharmed, while the attackers fled the scene after the shooting. The bodies of the deceased were shifted to the Trauma Centre.

The victims were identified as Allah Warhayo, Mansoor and Ali Sher Khokhar, while the fourth deceased was the car driver, Ghulam Mohib, police said.

According to police, the victims and the woman were residents of Hasan Wahan village in Naudero.

Police said the victims had been involved in a longstanding land dispute with members of their own community.

Following the incident, Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho sought a report from the DIG and SSP Larkana and directed the immediate arrest of those responsible.

The IGP ordered effective investigations and intelligence-based measures to identify and arrest the suspects. He also directed police to strengthen search operations, check-posts and surveillance in the area.

Javed Alam Odho instructed law-enforcement authorities to ensure that the suspects are brought to justice at the earliest.

Last week, a man was shot dead by his son following a dispute over money in Punjab’s Sheikhupura.

According to police, the incident took place in Nai Abadi Arain Wala area.

The victim, identified as Azam, had asked his son Saim for money, which led to a heated argument between the two.

Police said the dispute escalated when Saim allegedly opened fire on his father. Azam suffered gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

A Division police team reached the area after receiving information about the incident and took the victim’s body into custody. The body was later shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.
