NADRA launches facility to get ID cards without birth certificate   

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in Pakistan has introduced a temporary facility for citizens aged over 18 years to apply for a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) without submitting a birth certificate.

The facility is available to applicants who meet specific conditions and is currently valid until 31 December 2026.

NADRA said that married women applicants aged over 18 must have a computerized marriage certificate issued by the relevant Union Council.

They must also have either her father or mother, as well as her husband, registered with NADRA and holding a CNIC or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).

Applicants should visit a NADRA registration center with the marriage certificate and the relevant family members for biometric verification.

According to NADRA, if the applicant’s parent or husband has died but their record is available in NADRA’s database, the application may still be accepted after the applicant provides satisfactory answers to questions at the NADRA office.

For unmarried women aged over 18, the requirement relating to a husband does not apply.

The facility also covers men over the age of 24 who have never obtained a CNIC. They must have at least one parent and one sibling who hold a CNIC or NICOP and should visit a NADRA center with the registered parent.

NADRA has also warned applicants that details recorded on the CNIC, including parents’ information, date of birth, and place of birth, will be entered according to the information provided during the application process and will not be changed later.
