Pakistan Navy, Coast Guards seize liquor, illegal medicines in anti-smuggling operation

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards have foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of contraband, including liquor and illegal medicines, in the Pishukan area of Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

According to the military’s media wing, the operation was conducted jointly by the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards in coordination with the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC).

Acting on actionable intelligence, the joint operation resulted in the confiscation of a sizeable quantity of liquor and illegal medicines. The seized contraband items have been handed over to the Pakistan Coast Guards for further legal proceedings.

The successful joint operation underscores the effectiveness of inter-agency coordination in countering smuggling while highlighting the resolve of Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards to prevent the use of Pakistani waters and land for illicit activities, the ISPR added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards for successfully foiling the major smuggling attempt.

Appreciating the operation, the prime minister, who is currently in the United States to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, said that inter-agency coordination was important to root out the menace of smuggling from the country.

The prime minister also commended the professional competence, vigilance, and readiness of the personnel who participated in the operation.

Pakistan Navy commences major maritime exercise SEASPARK-2026 to test combat readiness

Earlier, the Pakistan Navy commenced its major maritime exercise SEASPARK-2026 in Karachi to test and enhance operational readiness against conventional and emerging maritime threats, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

According to the military’s media wing, the Chief of the Naval Staff presided over the opening brief of the exercise, which was attended by senior officers from across Pakistan’s armed forces.

The exercise rigorously tests the Pakistan Navy’s combat readiness against conventional and emerging maritime threats, integrating ships, submarines, aircraft, unmanned systems, marines, special forces and joint army and air force elements.

Earlier, the Chief of the Naval Staff visited PN Fleet units and reviewed ongoing operations. Addressing officers and men, he stressed that the evolving security environment demands uncompromising readiness, enhanced tri-service integration, adaptability and effectiveness across physical and information domains.
