LAHORE: Punjab government has requested to the federal government for deployment of the Rangers in the province in view of the PTI’s long march protest on September 27.
Provincial government has written a letter to the Ministry of Interior seeking deployment of paramilitary rangers in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Mianwali districts.
The rangers’ contingents will remain deployed in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Mianwali until October 05.
According to details, three companies of rangers will be deployed in Rawalpindi, five wings in Attock, while one company each will be posted in Jhelum and Mianwali districts.
The cabinet committee for law and order approved the deployment in its session.
Paramilitary force of rangers will be deployed in the province under the Article 245 and the anti-terrorism law.
