CDA says over 60pc development work completed in E-12

More than 60 per cent of development work in Sector E-12 has been completed following the retrieval of 1,135 kanals of government land after nearly four decades, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the CDA, development activities are underway in all four sub-sectors of E-12, with road construction, earthwork, drainage and pavement work progressing at different stages.

In E-12/4, earthwork has been completed, while work on the road base, sub-base and drainage system is in progress. Earthwork on the service road along Khayaban-i-Iqbal, as well as the southern and eastern service roads, has also been completed.

In E-12/3, TST (triple surface treatment) has been completed in 15 streets, while earthwork and base construction are continuing in the remaining streets.

Similarly, TST work has been completed in 25 streets each in E-12/2 and E-12/1. Earthwork and base construction are underway in the remaining streets of E-12/2, while earthwork is in progress in the remaining streets of E-12/1.

CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Sohail Ashraf said all hurdles to the development of the sector were being removed in accordance with the law.

He said 1,135 kanals of government land, worth billions of rupees, had been retrieved in E-12 after 40 years, adding that encroachments on public land would not be tolerated.

The CDA chairman said completion of development work in E-12 and other sectors was among the authority’s priorities and all available resources were being utilised to expedite the projects.

He said development of the sector would improve residential facilities and help meet Islamabad’s growing housing needs.
