Mir Raza Ali’s father demands JIT probe, raises reservations on judicial commission

The father of slain Mir Raza Ali has expressed reservations over the Sindh government’s decision to establish a judicial commission to investigate his son’s death, demanding that a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) be constituted instead.

Speaking exclusively on ARY News programme 11th Hour, Mir Raza Ali’s father, Mir Hussain Ali, said the family had sought the formation of a JIT and urged the government to act on their request.

“We want to know who the killer is. Why is a JIT not being formed?” Mir Hussain questioned, adding that the family had not been taken into confidence before the government announced the judicial commission.



He said the family learned about the formation of the commission through television reports rather than being contacted by the government directly.

Mir Hussain also questioned remarks by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab that the government stood with the family, saying, “That is not the case.” He demanded that Wahab explain why the JIT was not being constituted and what was preventing its formation.

According to Mir Hussain, the family had previously cooperated with investigative teams and continued to cooperate throughout the process, including the burial of Mir Raza. However, he said the family now wanted a JIT through which they could have greater confidence in the investigation.

He also raised concerns over earlier developments in the case, claiming that the exhumation process had faced obstacles and that the panel was changed overnight.

Mir Hussain said the family had no objection to a judge supervising the investigation, if considered appropriate, but maintained that their primary demand was the formation of a JIT.

“If the same investigative teams will work under the judicial commission, why is our demand for a JIT not being accepted?” he questioned.

Mir Raza Ali’s father urged the Sindh government to contact the family directly, hear their concerns and take them into confidence regarding the investigation.
