Over 2.1 million smart electricity meters installed across Pakistan, Senate told

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Energy has informed the Senate that a total of 2,125,296 smart meters have been installed across Pakistan’s power distribution companies (DISCOs).

According to a written reply submitted to the Senate, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has installed the highest number of smart meters, with 1,153,556 units.

The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) has installed 348,135 smart meters, while the Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has installed 229,719.

The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has installed 119,372 smart meters, followed by the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) with 111,948.

The Peshawar Electric Power Company (PESCO) has installed 60,685 smart meters, while K-Electric has installed 50,599.

According to the ministry’s written response, the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has installed 19,620 smart meters and the Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) has installed 13,432.

The Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) has installed 9,194 smart meters, while the Hazara Electric Supply Company (HAZECO) has installed 7,659.

The Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) has installed the lowest number, with 1,377 smart meters.

The figures were provided by the Ministry of Energy in response to a question in the Senate regarding the installation of smart meters across the country.
