The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has dismissed rumours circulating on social media about a ban on video-sharing platform TikTok, describing them as ‘false and misleading’.
In a statement posted on social media platform X on Thursday, 5 November 5, 2026, the regulator said a fake notification claiming that TikTok had been banned in Pakistan was being widely circulated online.
The PTA clarified that it had not issued any such notification and that the reports were entirely baseless.
It urged the public and social media users not to believe or share unverified information.
The authority also advised citizens to rely on its official website and verified social media accounts for accurate and authentic updates.
