Punjab directs schools to implement EISS Security App, update data

LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department has directed all public and private educational institutions across the province to implement the Educational Institutions Security Status (EISS) Mobile Application and Web Portal.

The directions were issued by the Directorate General (Monitoring and Evaluation), School Education Department, Government of the Punjab, through an official letter dated August 23, 2026, addressed to all Chief Executive Officers (District Education Authorities) in Punjab.

The department has instructed the CEOs (DEAs) to ensure that the directions are communicated to all Heads of Public and Private Schools and implemented in letter and spirit.

According to the official communication, the EISS initiative was developed following directions issued by the Punjab Home Department.

The letter refers to an earlier communication from the Additional Secretary (DP/CT/FAT), Home Department, Punjab, regarding the establishment of a centralized digital repository containing security-related information of educational institutions across the province.

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) was assigned responsibility for developing and operationalizing the EISS application.

The platform is intended to provide a centralized mechanism through which security information from educational institutions can be collected, maintained and monitored.

The department said the system would facilitate systematic monitoring of prescribed security parameters while also supporting informed policymaking and administrative oversight.

The letter also refers to a five-tier monitoring mechanism that was reaffirmed to institutionalize a structured system of inspection and oversight for educational institutions.

The mechanism is designed to assess schools’ compliance with prescribed security measures and ensure effective implementation of the province’s security framework.

Under the arrangement, Level-I monitoring involves self-assessment by educational institutions through the EISS platform. The department said this component would be operationalized with the launch of the EISS application.

The School Education Department has specifically instructed educational institutions to access the EISS Mobile Application and Web Portal using their existing or designated official login credentials.

School administrations have been directed to enter the required information relating to security enablers and other mandatory parameters on the platform.

The department has emphasized that institutions must exercise due diligence while entering the information to ensure that the data submitted to the centralized system is reliable and useful for monitoring purposes. Mandatory information to be kept updated

The official instructions require schools to ensure that the information uploaded to the EISS system is comprehensive, accurate, current and regularly updated.

According to the department, maintaining the quality and accuracy of information is essential for preserving the integrity, reliability and operational utility of the centralized database.

The data is expected to provide authorities with a consolidated picture of security arrangements at educational institutions and enable more effective oversight.

The EISS platform, according to the department, has been deployed for province-wide implementation with the objective of creating an integrated, real-time repository of institutional security data.

The system is expected to assist authorities in monitoring prescribed security parameters across educational institutions and provide a digital basis for administrative supervision.

The department further linked the initiative with data-driven policymaking, indicating that information collected through the platform could support government decision-making and the formulation of policies relating to institutional security. Directions to CEOs and school heads
