Additional deputy commissioner files domestic violence case against husband

RAWALPINDI: Additional Deputy Commissioner Maliha Sahar has filed a complaint against her husband, Jawad Ali, alleging physical assault, wrongful confinement, death threats and continued domestic violence.

The case was registered at the Women Police Station in Rawalpindi under Sections 342 and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code, according to the complaint.

In her complaint, Maliha Sahar stated that she had been married to Jawad Ali and that they have two minor children. She alleged that she had been subjected to continuous physical, psychological and emotional abuse by her husband for several months.

Sahar said she had remained silent in an attempt to preserve her family, but alleged that her husband’s behaviour had progressively become more violent and coercive.

According to the complaint, the situation escalated on October 2, 2026, when her husband allegedly assaulted her, forcibly took away her mobile phone and confined her inside a room by locking the door.

The ADC alleged that she was prevented from leaving the room, contacting her family, seeing her children, approaching the police or seeking emergency assistance.

The complainant further alleged that her husband repeatedly threatened to kill her and harm their children, causing her to fear for her life and safety.

She also alleged that taking away her mobile phone and restricting her movement deliberately deprived her of access to help and isolated her from her family, police and others who could assist her.

According to the complaint, the alleged incident was not an isolated domestic dispute but part of what she described as a continuing pattern of physical assault, wrongful confinement, coercive and controlling behaviour, intimidation and psychological abuse.

She further alleged that her husband had used restrictions on her access to their minor children as a means of pressure and intimidation.

The complainant requested immediate police protection, saying she feared further violence or an attempt on her life.

She also requested that police provide immediate assistance to ensure her safety and initiate appropriate legal proceedings against her husband.
