ISLAMABAD: The Executive Director of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Dr Muhammad Salman, has been removed from his post, according to sources in the Ministry of Health.
Following Dr Muhammad Salman’s removal, Professor Dr Tanveer Khaliq has been given the temporary charge of Executive Director PIMS, the sources said.
Professor Dr Tanveer Khaliq is the Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University. Dr Muhammad Salman was appointed Executive Director PIMS following the fire incident at the hospital.
Dr Muhammad Salman had assumed charge as the new Executive Director PIMS on August 31. He had been appointed to the post on deputation for a period of three years.
Soon after taking charge, Dr Muhammad Salman held important meetings with directors of various departments, officers and staff of PIMS and chaired a meeting.
Speaking to ARY News, Dr Muhammad Salman had said that transparent action on the report of the inquiry committee into the recent incident was his top priority.
He had expressed his resolve to introduce wide-ranging reforms at the hospital and ensure that such unfortunate incidents do not occur again in the future.
Dr Muhammad Salman had also said that steps were being taken to better manage the rush of patients at the hospital and facilitate the provision of medical facilities.
