Talks not failed owing to Sohail Afridi, says Salman Akram Raja

ISLAMABAD: PTI’s Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has said that the talks with government were not failed owing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s CM Sohail Afridi.

Addressing a news conference PTI leader said that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had asked to elaborate the measures that will be taken after proclamation of emergency and how could we endorse these steps.

“We wanted permission for the personal physicians’ examination of the PTI’s founder. The issue of personal physicians’ examination and measures with regard to terrorism were two points that were not agreed upon,” PTI official said. “It has no importance if these two issues disagreed and 100 others agreed,” he further said.

Salman Akram said that the PTI requested for a joint line of action while keeping in view the recommendations of the Jirga. “Sohail Afridi asked about the details of the steps that will be taken with imposition of the emergency? They rejected our opinion, proposal and request in one go”, he said.

He said there are signatures of the PML-N, People’s Party and the ANP on the recommendations of Jirga. “What was wrong in seeking consensus, which is being dubbed sabotaging the negotiations,” PTI leader questioned.

“They are saying there was a big opportunity with the PTI, which they lost in their immaturity,” he said.

Salman Akram said that they should consider over their attitudes, “Where they are leading to the nation?”

He said the distance created between the people and the state should be ironed out adding that these matters are not those that cannot be sorted out.
