The traffic police of Rawalpindi have issued a traffic management plan ahead of the Pakistan-Sri Lanka tri-series, aimed at easing congestion and facilitating spectators and commuters.
The first practice match of the series is scheduled to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on 6 October 2026.
City Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam has said that traffic would be diverted to alternative routes for the shortest possible period during the movement of the teams.
He said that vehicles travelling from Islamabad towards Rawalpindi will be diverted from Faizabad towards the Islamabad Expressway during team movements.
Traffic travelling from Rawalpindi towards Islamabad will be diverted in stages at three different locations, CTO added.
More than 315 traffic police officers and personnel will be deployed to manage traffic and keep traffic flowing on alternative routes.
Farhan Aslam also said that three designated parking areas have been arranged for cricket spectators.
The traffic police said commuters would receive regular updates on the latest traffic situation through official social media platforms and FM radio.
CTO Rawalpindi urged motorists and cricket fans to cooperate with traffic officials, saying maintaining smooth traffic flow during the matches would also depend on public cooperation.
