KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday allowed the investigation team to access the bank accounts and transaction details of late entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali as part of an ongoing probe.
A single-member bench of the high court approved an application filed by the prosecution seeking access to the accounts.
During the hearing, the prosecution told the court that investigators wanted to examine the transactions in Mir Raza Ali’s bank accounts as part of a comprehensive investigation.
“We want to review the transactions to determine where the money was transferred and to whom,” the prosecution said.
The prosecution further informed the court that a judicial commission had also been investigating the matter for the past month.
Investigators said they wanted access to the account and transaction details to ensure that all financial aspects of the case were examined.
According to the prosecution, bank officials had advised the investigators to approach the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for access to the accounts.
The government lawyer told the court that the SBP had maintained that access to the bank accounts for investigative purposes could not be granted without a court order.
The prosecution therefore requested the high court to allow investigators to obtain the bank account and transaction details of the deceased entrepreneur.
The SHC approved the request, allowing the investigation team access to the relevant bank records.
