ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified that pensions will not be stopped for pensioners who did not receive a proof-of-life certificate in September.
The clarification comes amid concerns among retired employees about whether failure to obtain a proof-of-life certificate through NADRA would result in the suspension of their pension payments.
NADRA has been working with relevant institutions to facilitate the issuance of proof-of-life certificates for pensioners.
Speaking during a podcast, NADRA Public Information Officer Syed Shabahat Ali said the non-issuance of a proof-of-life certificate by NADRA would not, by itself, lead to the suspension of a pension.
He said the Government of Pakistan had already decided that pension payments would not be stopped solely because a pensioner had not obtained a proof-of-life certificate from NADRA.
According to the official, the decision currently applies to retired employees across various institutions, including former personnel of the Army and other armed forces, as well as retirees of federal and provincial government departments.
He added that pensions of retired employees of institutions that had not yet approached NADRA for proof-of-life certificate services would also not be suspended on this basis.

The clarification is aimed at addressing concerns among elderly pensioners and ensuring that the absence of a NADRA-issued proof-of-life certificate does not automatically affect their pension payments.
